Formula One 2010

If you are watching this season of Formula One, probably you’ll find it interesting (like me). We just have passed the half of the season and I think that no one can point the man who will win this championship. This year, the top of the driver classification table was occupied by 5 or so drivers. In the moment, the Englishman Lewis Hamilton from McLaren Mercedes is in the honourable place.

Well, I prefer not to guess, but just to watch the rest of the season.

After the changes in the Williams Cosworth’s car, I am really happy to see the team (9 Constructors’ Championships and 7 Drivers’ Championships, lately obtaining not-so-expressive results) finishing in 4th in Europe Grand Prix (held in Valencia Street Circuit, Spain) and 5th in British Grand Prix (held in Silverstone Circuit, Britain), results obtained by the Brazilian Rubens Barrichello.

One moment I would like to talk about is the accident involving the Finnish Heikki Kovalainen and the Australian Mark Webber in the ninth lap of the European Grand Prix:

It has nothing to do with blaming anybody (actually, I think it was a race incident, that sort of thing just happens). The point is that this collision took me back to Portugal, 1992:

Really similar, isn’t? This accident occurred in Autódromo do Estoril, Portugal in 1992, involving the Austrian Gerhard Berger and the Italian Riccardo Patrese in the 43rd lap of that Grande Prémio de Portugal.
In both incidents, the involved drivers did not suffer any injuries.

This year, we saw discussions around the Safety Car, mainly after the Grand Prix de Monaco, where the Safety Car was deployed four times and the German Michael Schumacher overtook the Spanish Fernando Alonso in the last corner of last lap, bringing a discussion about the validity of the manoeuvre. Also, in the Turkish Grand Prix, the incident involving the two Red Bull Racing cars, which were in the first (Australian Mark Webber) and second (German Sebastian Vettel) positions, soured the relation between these team-mates that fight for the championship.
